3 AC Repairs to Focus on in Spring

Winter is finally over, and spring has come rolling in! We have at least a few months to enjoy this brief period of mild temperatures and beautiful sunshine before the summer heat sinks in and we’re stuck with major heatwaves and the muggy weather we’re used to.

But wait! Before you hop outside to go swimming or tan in your backyard, it’s important to think about your air conditioner. When was the last time you used it?

If that question prompts you to groan about that weird sound your AC made last year, or about how it was barely working toward the end of the summer, then this is the right blog post for you. You could very well need AC repair in Pine Bluff, AR now more than ever. Do yourself a favor and get this type of issue taken care of before summer is in full swing!

1. A Clogged Air Filter

This is actually a problem that you can kind of fix yourself. If you were dealing with any of the following issues having to do with your air conditioner, the air filter could be the culprit. Luckily, you can clean out the air filter yourself and mitigate some of these problems.

  • Your system is losing efficiency.
  • You’re experiencing poor comfort levels.
  • Your AC is overheating or struggling to run.

Any of these problems could be a sign that your air filter is clogged. Turn your air conditioner off and head on over to the return air duct where your air filter is located. If it’s disposable, then you’ll need to replace it with a new one. If it’s reusable, then you should just clean it out and reinsert it. And voila! Crisis averted.

2. Leaking Refrigerant Lines

Are you hearing a hissing or a bubbling noise from your air conditioner when it runs? Or perhaps it just doesn’t cool your home like it used to? It could be from the fact that your system is leaking refrigerant and doesn’t have enough to run effectively. This is a serious problem that homeowners tend to think they can address themselves, but it really requires professional help.

Call one of our technicians to have us repair the leaking refrigerant line and make sure the system is recharged with enough refrigerant to do its job.

3. Short-Cycling

Short-cycling is an interesting concern. It’s usually the cause of more problems, while also being a symptom of something worse. This problem occurs when your air conditioner starts but then abruptly stops after only a few minutes of running. This can lead to multiple short cycles instead of one long cooling cycle, and it ruins the efficiency and longevity of your unit.

For instance, short-cycling could be caused by having an incorrectly sized air conditioner that is cooling your home down too quickly and is shutting off before the cycle is complete. Or it could be from a clogged air filter that’s causing it to overheat and shut down. Either way, call our team for help!
